The Public Rotary Cord Blood Registry was established in 2005 by Karaiskakio Foundation with the collaboration of

Ministry of Health, the Cyprus Gynaecological Obstetrics Society and with the financial support of ten Cyprus Rotary

Club Associations. A public cord blood registry improves the chances of patients suffering from leukemia, especially children, to find a compatible donor and proceed to transplant.

The registry operates on a voluntary, non-profit basis similar to that of the bone marrow donor registry. Sole benefit from the cord blood donation to the public registry, is the satisfaction of giving the hope of life to a patient in need of transplantation.
