This website was funded by the the Norway Grants.
Ever since the EEA Agreement in 1994, Iceland, Liechtenstein and Norway provide funding to reduce social and economic disparities in the EEA and strengthen bilateral relations between beneficiary and donor countries. The funding is targeted on areas where there are clear needs in the beneficiary countries and that are in line with national priorities and wider European goals.
The main objective of the current project was to improve public health and reduce health inequalities. To achieve this, the project involved the upgrading of the infrastructure of the Cyprus Bone Marrow Donor Registry, addressing technical and operational weaknesses, improving its capacity to serve the needs of all Cypriot (Greek, Turkish, Armenian, Maronites, Latin or other) and international patients and helping in maintaining its sustainability. The project also included the organization of donor recruitment campaigns to help enrich and sustain the existing Donor Registry, and also the commitment to enhance collaborative work with international donor registries, including the Norwegian Bone Marrow Donor Registry.
